How do you use PEX water lines?
It’s pretty simple to use PEX.
SharkBite recommends crimp rings be 1/8″ to 1/4″ from the end of the PEX.
Slide your crimp ring over the PEX then the fitting into the pipe.
Use your crimper at a 90 degree angle to the PEX and compress the crimp ring.
Can you use PEX for main water line?
You can use PEX for the water line. Sometimes it’s good to go up a size since the OD is copper sizing, meaning that the ID is smaller than copper. Or you can also use Poly, which has copper ID size, and a larger OD.
Why is PEX plumbing bad?
Piping fails when the pipes are exposed to chlorine that is within the water, exposure to direct sunlight before its installation. Furthermore PEX pipe is vulnerable when it comes in contact with such solutions as petroleum products and oxygen. It can leach toxic chemicals from pipe material also.

PEX Banned From California ’01 Code. Uponor Wirsbo said its PEX pipe was introduced in California in 1990 and that the product helps solve problems in areas with aggressive soil conditions that copper pipe cannot solve.
